Zero waste food truck - how to run it?

The idea of zero waste is becoming increasingly popular. People are now trying to implement various of its concepts in their own lives. Is zero waste in a food truck a good option?

How does zero waste work?

The idea of zero waste is mainly about producing as little waste as possible in your daily life and not buying excessive amounts of products and things. You can start by paying attention to the packaging of different products, e.g. it is better to go to a shop where you can fill a jar of rice or groats of your choice yourself, rather than buying them in plastic bags. Also avoid buying fruit and vegetables in plastic packaging as you will reduce the production of rubbish. You can start using homemade cleaning agents! Lemon juice, baking soda and vinegar will do a great job on a variety of stains, and you can use them to clean windows, dishes or floors.

How to implement zero waste in food trucks?

Surely you are worried that applying zero waste ideas to a food truck can be difficult. Nothing could be further from the truth! You can start by selling food in recycled packaging. Ideally, they should be made of recycled paper rather than plastic. The food you sell, instead of packing it in plastic bags, can be put into paper bags with your company's logo on them. Buy energy-efficient appliances to help you save electricity! Remember that you can replace paper towels with those made from recycled materials and mop the floor with liquid you have made yourself!

As you might have read above, the idea of zero waste is entirely possible in food trucks. All you need to do is plan everything well, replace some items with recycled ones or items that can be used repeatedly. We are aware that you certainly can't limit everything, for example for hygiene reasons, but even small solutions can turn your food truck into one that is environmentally friendly!
